Silver Oak Winery Napa Valley – “Silver Oak began over a handshake between two friends with a bold vision: focus on one varietal, Cabernet Sauvignon, aged exclusively in American oak and worthy of cellaring for decades to come.” – Charles Binderup introduced me to this fine wine about 30 years ago and it has taken me this long to visit the winery…how I wish we could have done this visit together….how I wish….how I wish…miss you Charlie…

We were on the Northern California coast the other day and had a chance to hike the trail here… The Lady Bird Johnson Grove rests near the top of a ridge in Redwood National Park, more than 1,000 feet from sea level. The moist conditions and the extra rain brought by the elevation causes the redwoods in this grove to look less red than trees of that sort found elsewhere on the North Coast.
